What are the questions that are asked at an interview for an investment banking analyst position?

mr Burns asked:

I am interested in making money. I’m beeing honest. I know several people who are doing very well finantialy working in that idustry. I know the hours are long but if they can do it why not me.

Please respond if you’ve been to the actual interview. Even better if you are an actual interviewer of the prospective cadidates. I would like to become a derivatives specialist. What are some of the must knows?

Well, you could ask the people you know in the financial industry what question they would ask (if they are experienced) or what questions interviewers asked them (if they are new).

On thing, there are lots of layoffs in the industry right now, and this should continue for the next year, which means that there is more competition for fewer jobs. At the same time, if you know your stuff, there will be a job for you.

Also, hopefully you have studied or are studying the right courses. Derivatives trading is very math intensive. A finance degree is a minimum for that, but in reality I know at least two physics PhDs in the finance industry.
